What do atheists do on Easter (Resurrection Sunday)?

Most of my family is religious, so we still have a big dinner. That being said, our Easter and Christmas celebrations actually have very little mentioning of religion in them. It tends to be more about spending time with family.

As far as with my two young girls: we get plastic eggs, fill them with candy and give the girls chocolate rabbits. Also, they get to dye eggs. Not much mentioning of zombie Jesuses.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

They have a beautiful house and garden and I'm looking forward to a great time. I don't expect anyone to mention Jesus, though sometimes we do an egg hunt. Hope you have a good time too.

Don't they have an incredible garden? How can you not be happy on Easter amid all this natural splendor?

Beautiful indeed. So is the garden in your signature photo. I love seeing your posts because of it.

Drive down south, visit the family, have legendary breakfast, maybe get hammered. Celebrate pagan fertility rites by eating chocolate bunnies and eggs, as does the entire country, christian or not. Anythng wrong with that?
There may be a bach performance involved, so there's some zombie jesus aspect after all. Big Grin

So what's going down in Rev777's place if I may ask?

I hope to go to church in the morning with my family. Worship the Lord and focus on how He rose from the grave and glory that He conquered death. Come home and have a nice meal with my family. Just enjoy the fellowship with everyone.

They go to their church and we meet them at their house and we all have a family function.
Jesus is nowhere to be found but it somehow makes them feel good to know they recognized a fictional day with a phony messiah that supposedly took place in Jerusalem 2000 years ago.

twits

Well, thank you for at least associating with someone who believes in Jesus. Do you do it out of obligation that it is your in-laws?

When he will cure all diseases on earth and give food to everyone who needs it he might get A DROP of my respect. Until then NOTHING.

How about trying to be loving and as gentle as the kitten in your picture?

But y'all are going to have chocolate bunnies and bbq afterwards, right?

We are supposed to have raviolis and other yummy items. I could afford to lose a few pounds so I might not decapitate any bunnies. Maybe a few Peeps!

I didn't know there was a Darwin Day? I would probably dress as an amoeba in the morning, a fish/frog in the afternoon, and a naked man at night caring a club.

Seriously, I don't even know what a troll is? Let me look it up.

All 40,000+ sects of jesus freakdom think they are the only ones who really believe in the bible. The other 39,999+ are heretics.

This particular Easter I'll be having a party on the Saturday night at my house so Sunday will be spent recovering, hopefully, and then cleaning up.
