If its not one now, it will become one. I debate Christians everyday, because I disagree with them so much, as I do some atheist. If you don't like the term debate, I am open to another term.

Funny thing isn't it: How easy it is to prove god's existence to only yourself. Undecided

Its easy because the evidence is so overwhelming. I think with anything, its best to prove it to yourself first.

How about "baseless assertions replies fully ignored as nominally germane," or B.A.R.F.I.N.G., for short?

I don't have a problem with it. I just don't see much of a debate here, besides maybe a couple of side debates from comments.

You're an interesting guy for sure. I think you'll be alright here, this is a very tolerant forum I think. Welcome to the forum. Have some cookies. [Image: 391622.jpg]

Again, easy for yourself. Evidence for yourself.Overwhelming for yourself. No one else.

Sorry Mickiel, its all baseless assertions pal.

Well thank you, actually I agree with you, being my first day here, I wanted to start a topic that was more of a introduction to the place and get a feel for how discussion is here. I did not do that at the first atheist site I joined, I came in guns blazing and firing away.

I think that was a mistake.

So I just thought of a subject that may be interesting and a little stirring, but not threatening.

Glad to see at least one theist who can claim something other than ignorance for that particular mistake.

BTW, my name's not "atheist."

Slightly? Took me seconds to find that bit about human culture pre-dating A&E by three thousand years and I'm no great researcher.

To capitalize God as you do denotes a jewish or a christer faith of one denomination of another. It is a proper name. Leaving it lowercase is the correct and generic term for any and all other gods ever created by humanity.

Bullshit. Unless you have some seriously strong evidence for this claim.

Some of the members here are quite brilliant and although I agree with Losty in that I think you could do just fine here once you learn your way around, I don't think you could ever bring something to us that was threatening.

Right, in my view, its a personal thing. It has to make sense to me. Like science and the church, I see science becoming jealous of the church, and I still see that in them. BUT, I see the same jealousy in the Church for science in history, they knew the people were starting to BELIEVE science, because it was finding truth; truth that the Pope had nothing to do with.

So science is not so personal as understanding the existence of God; that is a thing that requires a conscious opening of unusual terms. Even most believers in God do not believe his existence can be proven; I disagree with them all the time. They take it on faith; I have no faith, so I needed the facts.

Well I use caps, you use cursing; we treat the written language as we do. Viva la difference! I believe in god, I am not christian or jew, and I can stop using caps. Question, do I have to stop using them in the first word of a sentence ? What does that denote, using caps in the first word? What does that make me?

So, what facts did you find that "prove" your gawd? Even if it is only a "personal proof" (whatever the hell that is).
