Gidday from Down Under mate.

RE: Gidday from Down Under mate.
It died because of money. A show like robotwars uses a lot of resources for safety and practicality. Bulletproof glass around a large arena, a very large TV crew, a large hall (we filmed in a hangar from the RAF) special camera mounts to film inside the arena with the cameramen on the outside, house robots, etc. It costs way more than for instance an "Idols" or a "Deal or no deal" type of show.
Best regards,
Leo van Miert

It rocked. It was best for me because of quality not quantity. Meaning after I'd watched a lot, most of it wasn't that interesting.
But the odd fight was extremely entertaining!
Watching recorded RTS games was like that for me in the end too (and I've seen thousands of them)...
At first I found them all really entertaining. Then in the end I had to watch a good game to really enjoy it and be impressed.
Your standards get higher....
But a good fight is a good fight.
And a great fight is a great fight. And a truly awesome fight is still truly awesome.

WOAH.
Ok, so I take it that everybody loves Robotwars.
Atheists are totally not science buffs or geeks.
lol.

I also want to start building robots!!
How does one begin building when they have VERY limited funds and knowledge?
Is building robots out of lego and electronics like the high school days a good place to start?

leo-rcc:
Your robots are totally cool! You already have my greatest respect!
I admire your work.

EvidenceVsFaith:
I really do need to read more of Christopher Hitchens!

At the moment I am studying psychology as a single year 12 just for my curiousity... and it really is interesting!
Now, I really want a New Scientist subscription but all these things cost money.

Furthermore, I wonder whether people's atheism inspires what aspirations they have for the future.

Ahh, I love that.. I have come across that before! Where is it from?
Drat...I thought I came up with it. Ah well Smile

I'm Adrian, and I run things around here with help from a elite team of super evolved ape-like beings who love science and respect rational thinking. I also write an atheist blog: http://atheistblogger.com

Awesome Adrian, I will make sure to stay clicked on to your website. Who are you hosted by? I was thinking of starting my own blog in high hopes of becoming famous with it - lol. I will make sure to also give you lots of comments. This is wonderful forum that I have found.. just the right size for me! If you ever need a hand in running the website just give me a bell.. I am good with graphics and some programming. What type of science do you enjoy?
Also, when I edit my post.. does the update my word count?
Oh and I really love how we have a reputation and word count. Do people give out reputation points religiously to those that deserve it or readily and merrily?
I even have stars! Are there many Australians on the forum? I have seen on other forums under their name they have a little flag indicating where they come from... do you think that this is a good idea to incoporate into the forum? Of course this would be an optional addition for incase there are some that like to keep their privacy.

Haha.....Sorry to disappoint but I hated it!

I always felt they were nothing more than heavy duty radio controlled cars, not "robots".

Well, it might be my geekiness showing through but I'd have been much more impressed watching autonomous "robots" fighting each other. Even if it would have been a lot slower.

What about all those funky robots that save lives?

So.. allan175 what do you do?

Well, again, in the strictest sense I'd say they weren't robots either. Just remote controlled rescue devices.

I'm a programmer (hence the geekiness!).

Just you wait and see they will come for you first! (The robots when they take over the world.)

Computers destroyed my life =/ I should have seen Dr.Phil.. although I think I am cured now.. I drank a heap, partied and experimented with sex! Rock n roll all the way man.
Sorry I can't help but bring up the word sex these days... since the freedom from the bloody Lutheran school.. I suppose it could have been worse.. could have gone to a Catholic! Shock. Anywho yes I did have a computer addiction and was going to study it but I then saw God and found it unmeaningful.
So now I study mathematics and I hope to come up with all these theories about the world etc.
I need to develop my own blog..
and it has to be a really GOOD one..
because it is going to be famous you see!
any ideas on how to get me started???
I also need a domain name me thinks.. where should I go for this?
What sort of stuff do you program by the way?? You at UNI? Where? Details? Can I stalk you? Or do you work for a company? I want to see your work Big Grin What code do you know? You should help with the forum lol.
Perhaps I could get some inspiration from Adrian's blog! I'd definately have to link his blog to mine!

Haha.......Yes, stalk all you want, As long as it is from across the internet. I don't want to look out my window one day to see your face pressed against the glass! Wink
Although I left university over 20 years ago and judging by your (masked) photo I'd say you were still there so I'm probably a bit old for you to stalk.

No idea about blogs, I don't read any regularly and don't have anything to say myself.

I'm currently programming the Nintendo DS, a lovely little machine to code on.
