1 - More or less 70% of the economy is public Quote:Not so...
I am talking about government owned economy, there isn't a thing in that graph that tells me the percentage of sectors owned by the government and by private companies. I'm not talking about GDP. But I could be wrong with my numbers or confusing with another subject since I finished economics class a year ago. I remember seeing the US has having more privately owned economy and Sweden as having more government owned and more redistribution of wealth

You are right, wrong deduction here, I assumed it was mandatory for so many workers to be part of unions, specially considering countries like mine with a little less labor laws force some workers to be a part of unions.

For what it's worth, this is from Wiki:
Quote:Sweden's industry is overwhelmingly in private control; unlike some other industrialized Western countries, such as Austria, Italy or Finland, state owned enterprises were always of minor importance. One important exception to this rule is LKAB, which is a state-owned mining company, mostly active in the northern part of the country.

Not really the detail I'm looking for (I have dreams of an orderly pie chart), but production seems to be private.

I guess I was messing things up.

Um no. Absolutely not. You have some evidence for this?
Maybe a few really small businesses would need to increase prices. Most places would just make a lower net profit. A company has no right to make "profit" by essentially stealing wages from it's employees.

Yeah, I'm getting sick of right-wingers all together, they are unpatriotic and traitors of America, they would rather shut down the government then reform healthcare or any major social progress. The sad thing is, these greedy corporate fat cats have some of my friends convinced that these companies can't afford to pay them better or the owners will lose jobs in their business. Bull-fucking-shit, that whole argument is predicated on the assumption that high end corporate types don't have expendable income to throw around when the fact is they don't want to spread the wealth. These money hoarding rich scumbags are destroying the middle class with their greed and if they were smart they would spread the wealth, if the poverty gets too high or the dollar crashes, then their money is worthless.
Having some kind of affordable care (even if Obamacare is flawed) is not some excuse to not pay your employees a fair wage and it's no excuse to cut your jobs just because you have to shell out a little more change from your big pockets. This is just a way for them to not pay their employees a livable wage for just a little longer, just blame Obama, that's the new meme these days, like with Bush, we just blame it all on Bush. Hilary will be next, everything will be her fault and hardly any progress will be made, even though she will probably be another corporate shill like Bush and Obama.

That's my point and is a significant consideration when discussing minimum wage. Sweden doesn't need a minimum wage because the unions help to ensure a living wage. For this reason, Sweden's lack of a minimum wage cannot be used as an argument for eliminating or not raising the U.S. minimum wage.

I never intend to use the minimum age argument to justify eliminating it in the US, sorry if I was not clear enough, I was just stating that a minimum wage may not even be necessary, that would be the ideal for every society.

The minimum wage is absolutely necessary, because left unchecked, businesses will cut corners and pinch pennies at your expense.
There should also be a maximum wage as well to prevent classism and income equality.

I don't like the idea of a maximum wage

I think a maximum wage would limit the possibility for inflation of a currency or economy, similar to the way a minimum wage limits deflation. I mean, we don't need people making 100$+ an hour for jobs that lots of time anyone can do (non-specialty jobs) while others can not even afford to pay their bills working full time doing hard work. Maybe that makes me a commie or a socialist but I hardly see how the system now benefits the common man, what we have now benefits the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer and have a harder time moving up.
