Wha? I think a siren is half bird half woman, and she seduces you in with her signing voice and then kills you. I think...

Sirens were the witchy chicks in Jason and the Argonauts!
Love the fighting skeletons at the end! Claymation at its finest!

Sirens....an early take on-

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yes there are one of the things I do during the group prayers is look around to see who else is looking around. At our last base I would spot one or two. Here I have not been able to see any. The problem isnt so much having no other atheists here its more of how much I have to hide my non religiousness. My husband is a pilot so we are like in small community of pilots within the military. You would think a group of highly educated individuals would be less religious but these people are more on the crazy side. So i worry that if everyone knows we are atheists it will affect his career since a lot of that is based on commander rankings of the pilots.

Welcome Siren!

I was an officer in the Navy, and lived on MCAS Miramar out in San Diego. I know what you are dealing with. Especially in the Marine Corps, there is a much higher tendency to ostracize those that aren't the typical Marine or Marine family. It's mind numbingly clique-y and stupid. I'm sure it's the same in other services.

Join in the fray and have fun!
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I would imagine the Air force is a little better less cliquy but I dont really know. Luckly I got into roller derby out here and those chicks are awesome and have a bunch of atheists in the group.
Yeah I have this urge to come out but I dont because I know some people think atheists are truly evil immoral people so it might freak them out. The wives always talk about how they admire the faith of each other, gross. When they say that I always wonder what they think of me.

I always hated it when my mums cousin would come to town. He is a minister. One time I tried to impress him with my 'faith' and he admonished me and made me feel 2in tall. I was 8.

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
