There are countless versions of the Bible so why should anyone have to do any translating before reading it?

Because the earliest versions were written in non-English languages by people who would have better understood the words of those who originally wrote the Bible.

The ideas say what they say. The catch-all is "sexually immoral". Of course that can mean anything since the Bible characters screwed anything and anyone they could get their hands on.

Well, by that logic, "sexually immoral" can also not mean anything, and Christians would be left to debate whether or not a committed sexual relationship between two people is immoral if they both have dicks.

A homosexual becomes a Christian for the same reason a heterosexual does; he realized that he has sinned against a holy God and he needs to be forgiven. I'm willing to bet most christians are that way because their parents were christians, and they didn't have a whole lot of choice when they were kids. People who became christians as adults are most likely the exception to the rule, assuming it wasn't forced on them by a christian community.

Shame she is not on here to tell us why she subscribes to skydaddy. Do you have a lot of discussions about it Losty?

Not too many. I try to keep the peace with the few relatives I have who still like me.
If I have to love a Christian, though, I prefer the ones like my sister.
She doesn't read the bible much. She doesn't believe it's the word of god. She loves Jesus because she wants to and it makes her feel good. It's just her own thing, she doesn't care what other people believe or how they live.
I guess she hardly counts as a Christian but I am glad she as least doesn't subscribe to the self loathing Christianity that some of my other gay friends do.
