I am always trying to surprise people in order to show them that I love them.
I just sent my mom a letter in the mail that simply says, "I love you Mama, Boudreaux." Nothing more. (Her nickname for me since I was 12 has been Boudreaux. I have no idea where it came from.)
I love doing things for others (I think it's some inner desire to please in order to feel worthy). So I love to surprise my girlfriend by cooking or building something useful for the house. She genuinely surprises me all the time when she puts on a dress that I haven't seen before or gets out of the shower and is completely un-self conscious.
I know my sister loves to give advice, so I call her all the time and get her advice on things like meal planning, gardening, or cleaning. And my little brother just loves to talk, so I have those conversations with him all the time, try to keep it the right level of small talk and meaningful things.
It is important to tell the people that you love that you love them. But the "staleness" doesn't happen if you keep it fresh!

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
