What's your favorite flower

I am also particularly fond of the European White Waterlily (Nymphaea alba).

Went to the lilyponds in South Wales last year. Loads of those white waterlilies. Just a beautiful sight.

Epiphyllum oxypetalum



Big beautiful blooms that only open at night at fade in just a few hours. They have a wonderful scent. It is commonly know as the Queen of the night, but some call it the Night-blooming cereus. It isn't closely related to any of the Cereeae though.

The pic above is one of the half dozen or so 30 plus year old plants mom keeps. Like Quill's roses it was started from a clipping from her mother's plant.

I was quite impressed with the Rafflesia.
I saw a few in Indonesia. Usually you have to stop on the side of the road and have a local guide you kilometres through the forest and it's sought of expensive, not to mention a little dangerous.
I saw one outside of Jakarta and two outside of Surabaya.
I also like Datura. We get a lot of it in North Queensland but the largest and most beautiful I've seen was on Tanna Island in Vanuatu.
I did a lot of mushies when I was young and had some terrible nightmare trips occasionally.
But nothing I ever did was as bad as Datura.
Don't try it. It'll rewire your brain forever and most probably kill you.
Anyway, I'm more attracted to leaves.
I don't know why.
So my favourite plant for flower and leaf is the Tibouchina. I have three in my yard and they just put me at ease, especially the one over my pond.
New Guinea Impatiens are also a lovely leaf and flower plant. :-)

Whateverist, I'm really impressed.

Sounds like you've taken some pretty serious plant trips. Would love to see a Raflessia. I think they are the largest single flowers. Of course their are flowering stalks which get much bigger like some agaves, puyas and the Titan lily.

I think you must be into gardens and plants too. Would love to see pictures. =)

I'm computer illiterate and have no idea how to do photos. :-(

I've been there regarding photos. (Still there regarding much else to do with computers.) To post here you just need a host site for your photos. I use a mac and iphoto which I store at flickr. They charge about $2/month for all the photos and videos you want. Once I load a photo to flickr I can then post it here using the BB code option.

There are other sites such as photobucket which are free. Actually, flickr is free too up until you reach a limit of some huge amount of memory. Some people just open as many accounts as needed; as they fill one up they open a new one.

Are you taking digital photos? What computer are you using?

I've got an I phone. I might look into the Flickr option. It really is just laziness that has stopped me trying to work it out. :-)

My wife makes a lot of use of one-on-one sessions to learn software. (I make use of her.)
