That Day will come as a trap on all the world

My Sam was like that with "Sammy". It was a good and sure way to earn a percussion-induced headache. She wasn't too keen on the full version of her name either, much preferring the diminutive.

Yeah, I don't hate it, but I prefer that people stick to "Becca" instead of "Rebecca". It just sounds so... Victorian.

Cool Shades

My friend always teases me by calling me "Becca" or "Becky" or, ONCE, "Becky-Boo!"

Angry

A bunch of people have called me "Becca Boo" over the years. My mom still does at times. Drives me nuts.

My mother still insists on calling me Rebecca. Always.

I've always thought it sounded too formal for regular use.

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"

My mom has called me Becca since the day I was born, thank the gawds.

That's why I prefer the diminutive "Steve" over the formal "Steven". Especially if someone's shouting it to me; it makes me think automatically that I'm being told off for something.

Also there's the question of spelling. When giving the unabridged version to someone, I'm forever having to add the qualifier "with a v", to clarify from the more correct English "Stephen". Going by "Steve" eliminates that.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Luckie, I figure you missed my repeated stating that the world never ends. Not now.
Not ever.
This age of lawlessness will end with a bang. And the Restoration of all things is immediately after that bang.

The Redeemer likened where we are right now to labor pains. They are going to increase until the baby is born.
That baby is the Millennium Rest (oration) under the real Messiah.

As for a book, I had a selection of books and I deducted that ONE of them is the truth and all the rest are lies and shades of lies.
Nothing else is possible within contradictory positions.

I did what the one book among books said and I got the stated result.
There is a personal God who said to know (not merely know about) Him is to have Life.

I have heard the testimony of two people in 4 decades who were having a ducky time in their life and jumped into Jesus' arms when they got the idea.
TWO people out of hundreds of people I listened to or know personally.
All the rest of us came out of seeking, knocking and circumstances which intently encouraged finding answers to the heavy duty questions of life.

I did not settle for the "We are just accidents out in space" BS that goes against all observation and logic.

The narrow way IS narrow because we are repulsed by the very idea of humbling ourselves.
Admitting we need to know the way is being honest.

And we have an enemy blowing into our minds lies and nonsense.

7 times in the book of Revelation Jesus says to OVERCOME.
We are to overcome the flesh, the pride of life and the devil.
Go for it.

You need to overcome Jesus so you can overcome yourself. Nothing stands in the way of turning you from what you are now to something closer to a marginally acceptable primate other than yourself.

How about, 'foxy roxy' though? I'll cease if it is your wish, Milady..
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I'd coin a pet name for you, but I can't think of a rhyme for "Luckie".
