That Day will come as a trap on all the world
RE: That Day will come as a trap on all the world
Fear of god is some of the silliest things i ever heard coming from any religion.

Exian, I read your posts above.
Most of us have had the same reaction- I didn't do anything wrong, same reaction I exhibit when my wife has been upset w/ me.
Then we look a little deeper......... oh, I did that? I did the other thing?
This goes especially for guys.
We always want to be "In charge", the masters of our own destiny.
Coming down off that platform is really difficult.
Admitting the rudder on the big ship doesn't work real well and the realization we are heading into unchartered water is the first step to reality.
Look at a kid.
The kid would rule, not only the parents but the entire house if they were allowed to have their own way- unless the kid is brought into focus with reality.
It is for their own good.
We are all like that kid.
God has chosen to let circumstances bring reality rather than Him stepping in front of us (what everyone here wants- a direct face to face encounter).
As the ship is plowing along, it would be wise to ask- "God of Heaven, show me the way. Are you real?"

What would they have to talk about?

Not long now. Bugger.

Prof, as long as you'll be leaving us sinners behind soon, any chance you could donate any money you might have to charity? You won't need it after all...

H Jacob, I have kids who will be here.
Because of that, I have been cleaning out the bank act. and putting it into real money for a while now.
Some is with them- they know where the rest is.
When it hits, fake money that we are so used to, will probably be recalled/ imploded and new (international?) currency issued.
Everything built on fake money- stocks, real estate, bonds are in trouble.
I am sure there is a floor for stocks, since they represent ownership of something productive, but that floor will be a long ways down.
The pantry is set with some emergency food and h2o.
That should get them thru the panic stage, whenever the Departure comes.
If that isn't now- everything is still in place.
We do give to certain humanitarian efforts and will continue as long as we are here.

What, no guns? How are they supposed to protect what becomes theirs?

Read any decent apocalypse how-to book. It's all there. Bunkers, flame throwers, shot guns and canned beans.

I have to give some props for looking out for your family. My dad told my sister she could have his furniture after he's raptured (she's Presbyterian, and no way are THEY getting raptured).
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Sounds like preparing for Y2K and about as necessary too. No "departure" no panic. Actually, given the requirements, I can't imagine many folk would depart even if it were real. But just for fun let's suppose it were real:

1) Fake real estate is an animal I'd like to see. I can't imagine much of anything less fake than land. Mortgage backed bonds might possibly be fake, but land is land.

2) Why utter chaos would lead to a world government that would issue currency is beyond me. Chaos tends to lead to chaos, not world order.

3) Come to think of it why international chaos? Europe is pretty secular. South America is mostly Catholic. the Middle East is Muslim. China, Japan, Korea, etc. are a variety of things, none of them Christian; and while India has some Christians, I don't think you'd consider them rapture ready. So a little portion of the Bible Belt population disappears into thin (or thick) air? Surely you don't think the captains of industry and investment are going?

4) The fake money idea is interesting. Did you know that money was originally all in valuable metal? Then it was backed by valuable metal (at least theoretically). Now it's just paper we've all agreed is worth something. In the event of real trouble I'm willing to bet barter would be better. Leave your kids cigarettes, liqueur, antibiotics, painkillers, and other tradeable necessities. ----- Though, if I were you really, I'd do no such thing, cause you'll lose money converting it all back to cash when the rapture doesn't happen.

5) Food is good. A generator might not be a bad idea. You could use either in the next natural disaster.

6) Suggest the kiddies stay off public transport until the rapture has happened--a suddenly driverless car, bus, or plane doesn't sound good.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

Whateverist, my oldest son is an investigator, he has guns and is a shooting instructor at times, the second son has guns too.
As for an Apocalypse scenario, a lot of that is fear mongering.
