Is Moffat really so bad? I dunno maybe the fact that English is not my first language is what keeps my attention up for the whole episodes. Though I think that unlike RTD's run, when story arcs were much thinner, his episodes *usually* make a lot more sense in the big picture than after the first screening, and I'm okay with that. Seasons 5&6 were kinda lame in that sense, I admit, but to me almost every episode was enjoyable anyway.
I really don't know what to think :S (and it shows I guess)

I think the quality between RTD and Moffat is obvious. Yes, RTD did have a better actor (Tennant vs Smith), but the stories overall were much better quality. Day of the Doctor was an outstanding episode, and it was followed by Time of the Doctor, which was so underwhelming. RTD would have made a much stronger episode - it wouldn't have left the Trenzalorians to be left to the imagination!

Moffat always leaves SO many things to the imagination... He obviously does that on purpose, and sometimes it's nice to try and imagine what happens in those gaps.

So... Doctor Who (2005) S08 E06 "The Caretaker"
By far my favourite episode of the season thus far. I'm disappointed that there were no significant characters besides Doctor/Clara/Danny, but the episode itself was great. Definitely like Peter Capaldi way better than Smith.
Some great moments, eg Doctor Who introduces himself as the caretaker saying "I'm the new caretaker, John Smith. Yes John Smith's the name but do you know here's the thing, most people just call me 'The Doctor'". ... (to Clara) - "So you recognised me then?"

I don't really understand what they are doing with Capaldis doctor, he just doesn't really seem to care about saving lives any more and that's just so out of character compared to the last 3.

They're trying to make a morally grey Doctor by making every episode literally be about just that. The subtext of the character is just the text, but I do agree that it's out of character and strangely contradictory to the whole spirit of the Doctor at all. So now we've got a show that's always been about the spirit of discovery and inquiry, where the main character is super dismissive of just about everything new: my heart sank in the first episode where the Half-Face Man started talking about the promised land and the Doctor, instead of giving the expected response of "what's that, then?" just shook his head and went "bullshit, that doesn't exist," and nothing could dissuade him for the rest of the episode.
Has anyone else noticed that every episode bar one this time around has been about the Doctor refusing to even entertain the possibility of something? Promised Land? No! Good Daleks? Nonsense! Robin Hood? Nuh uh! Danny Pink? Worthless!
How is this the new incarnation of a character that spent years and years waxing poetic about the beauty of life?

First this does happen sometimes when the Doctor regenerates, eg. the Sixth Doctor. Second, Missy is thus far collecting the people who have "died" that the doctor has failed to save. Whether they are actually saved by Missy or whether they're just computer programs (as in the "echoes" in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead) and whether she is or is related to River is yet to be seen, however I have a very strong feeling that Clara will "die" and be collected by Missy at the end of the season. I have a strong feeling the story arc will be dismally disappointing, Clara's already died enough times as it! But we'll just have to wait and see.
I also don't understand why Moffat still has the doctor with such apathy to soldiers when 1. he loved Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, 2. he now knows that he saved Gallifrey, and he did it as the "war doctor" regeneration. He hates unnecessary killing, this is true and he always has. He even refuses to kill off the Dalek race in Genesis of the Daleks, but why he hates soldiers now is still an unbelievably dumb trait that should have died with Smith's doctor!

I must say, I like the new titles. Here's the original concept that Billy Hanshaw made in Sep 2013.

I like the new titles too, and it's also nice to see that they are taking inspiration from the fanbase!

He was hired by the BBC to storyboard and design the titles, which were built by their own graphics team (the BBC's). His name is in the credits. As Moffat says it is the "only truly new idea" out there.
