Garden of Eden was a setup...

My God that I worship sent His Son...something I could not begin to imagine doing

Hardly a sacrifice, wasn't it?

Suffer a few hours on the cross, stay dead three days, rise and become Emperor of the universe.

But your imaginary friend just LOVES blood sacrifices, right?

Christ's death on the cross ended blood sacrifices once and for all.
To live a pure life and suffer as he did is more sacrifice than I can ever imagine.
What he loves is us, not blood.
He even asks the Father in prayer to take this cup from him, but still submits to Gods plan.

You might look up scourging and how one dies when hanging from the cross. Its quite the sacrifice of ultimate torture and a slow painful death to boot

Hey Christy...why couldn't God just forgive us? Why send down his alter-ego that was actually himself to be sacrificed to himself?

So he asked himself to excuse himself from beating himself up for an afternoon, and turned himself down? What a prick.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Or, Jesus gave up a weekend and now wants me to give my entire life.

He wants to give you life

Already got one, and it's enough, thanks.

Yeah, right. We're down to the usual tap dance again.

The trinity, remember that one? So, Jesus basically talks to himself when asking to take away that cup. Since his other third obviously said no, he goes on to be crucified. And all in the name of making a sacrifice to himself in heaven.

Could have been done easier if one of the three personality disorders actually willed forgiveness instead of going through the meaningless motions, cause remember, we're still talking about one god in three forms.

Let's assume for a minute that the whole story is true. And let me concede for the moment that crucifixion was a horrendous death.

Countless people have died much worse deaths. Even some people who were crucified died a much slower, more painful death--your Bible, itself says that he somehow, amazingly died within only a few hours. Even if they sinned and Jesus didn't, wouldn't their [much worse] death have been sufficient atonement?

Here, I'll even boil it down for you: who made evil?

Look, if you don't like me and don't want to talk, for whatever reason, let me know, and I'll leave you alone.

As of now, I'm not convinced you want serious discussion, by dint of the fact that you are hemming and hawing around the above question, which has such an obviously simple answer.

By the way I love that song by Alice; never dissected the lyrics though.

Remember the rooster's crow. Who made everything?

I'm overwhelmed with all these questions from everyone else, and I came at your earlier half cocked overlooking the plagues God sent (according to Exodus). Not sure how to answer it, but I will as soon as I have an answer for you.
I really don't know everything and don't spend my life questioning everything in the Bible.
What can I say, I'm stumped, but not one bit less a believer.

Others suffered far longer.

And again, 3 days of death, some torture and then emperor of the cosmos is something many would accept. There are those who have sacrificed the one life they had, knowing their death would be final, for other people and they are the ones worthy of respect.
