(December 5, 2014 at 2:37 pm)YahwehIsTheWay Wrote: I just had a thought about the whole issue of gay rights and Christianity. Maybe we True Christians are getting all worked up about something that has a very simple solution.
Consider, we are all sinners.
Further, we can't help but be sinners. Our best works are as filthy rags. So we may as well not even try.
Salvation is by faith alone. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and always stands ready to forgive. So we can sin all we like and then just pray to our invisible imaginary fr... LORD AND SAVIOR and say "sorry about that" and the slate is continually wiped clean.
Therefore, there's no need for any "ex-gay" ministries or trying to "pray the gay away". Homosexuality is a sin like any other. Sin is inevitable. Sin is something we can do constantly and still attain salvation just with a simple prayer to wipe the slate clean.
The plan for gay Christian then could be:
1. Have lots of hot gay sex.
2. Pray.
3. Have more hot gay sex.
4. Pray.
5. Have even more hot gay sex.
6. Pray.
7. Repeat as much as desired.
No muss. No fuss. No need for self-loathing. No need for trying to change what you are. Just keep praying after you get done with all the intense [Censored for want of being able to post in Area 69] and the passionate [oh damn this needs to be censored] and rubbing your [nope not publishing this either] against his [this censored part goes on for a few sentences] and all that... mmmmmm ...what was I saying again?
Oh yes, I was praying to Lord Jesus to forgive me for calling him an "invisible imaginary friend".
See? It never happened. The slate's been wiped clean.
Praise the sweet name of Jesus!
Here's the thing about sexuality and (in particular) Christianity.
Sexuality, along with all other human traits, is not an ON/OFF, binary matter. Broadly speaking at one end of the sexuality spectrum is Hetrosexuality, and the other, Homosexuality, plus a few branches where people are attracted sexually to things other than humans, such as jello or cucumbers, however things can change throughout life. The point is, for all of us it is neither binary nor static. The fact that that society forces us to identify as Homo, Hetro or Bi leaves us with a woefully inadequate identity process that often leaves people struggling to reconcile their feelings with societal norms, but does provide them with a set of behaviours that outwardly display sexuality. (I admit I am particularly fascinated by 'gender-centric' behaviours. I find overtly macho behaviours in hetro men and some homo females equally amusing).
But, all of this plays straight into the hands of the Christians who need these easy definitions to make their prejudice work. So, I say fuck the Christians, let's not play the game by their rules any more. From now on we should have
Christosexual - deeply repressed bunged-up, (consent optional) hetrosex in the dark
and
Normosexul - men and women expressing their consensual sexuality on equal terms with whatever partners they like

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

I like it, though you forgot: man on top. True story: from the very catholic wing of my family it was related that a priest proposed to put sheets or something in between during mating to reduce the sin level.

Lol... You what?!
Great analysis manmachine. That's why Christian "values" are so stupid. They want everything in black and white, but the world is gray. Simple rules which must all be followed do not allow for any sort of complex system like, I don't know, reality.

Exactly, and therefore, such black and white rules will always lead to injustice and cruelty.
