RAND Corporation report says the Iraq War was George Bush’s biggest blunder

The main premise for the war was that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and that these were at risk of falling into the hands of terrorists. In the end, however, there were no such weapons, and Saddam’s links to al Qaeda were unproven. This robbed the invasion of legitimacy.

The insurgency that ensued after initial combat operation robbed the invasion of success. Today, the United States has less influence in Baghdad than Iran does. Iraq is a Shia-dominated state with an alienated Sunni minority, rampant violence and virtually no control over the Kurdish north. At least 134,000 Iraqis died as a direct result of the American invasion, and the violence there continues.

I suppose we need an actual study to sort out all of Bush's fuck-ups but was there any doubt that this would win?

It allowed billions to be funnelled into the coffers of defence contractors.
It turned the Middle East into a morass of tribal conflicts.
The consequences(9/11,etc) has caused the American people to allow their country to turn into a police state.

Biggest? Probably. But it's got a surprising amount of competition. Dubya screwed up a lot. Katrina alone would ruin most presidencies.

What's that even supposed to mean? The insurgency didn't rob the invasion of it's success. The insurgency was a direct result of the invasion.
