Jennifer Feuerman apparently exited her Mercedes-Benz while it was still running Saturday, and it was a move that ended in tragedy. The 50-year-old Long Island woman was found dead around 7pm that night on Bowditch Lane in Center Moriches, and investigators believe the 2012 car—which was still in gear—backed over Feuerman and pinned her under the driver's side door, NBC New York reports. The investigation continues and the car is undergoing a safety check, CBS New York reports.

I remember reading somewhere that the woman who started the Darwin Awards was no longer going to include people who jumped into wild animal enclosures because it was such a common occurrence. I don't know if that is true or not but it does show you the level of idiocy that one has to possess to end up on the list

It's probably evil to laugh about actual fatalities, but I took a look at their website quite recently. Let me put it this way, given what they are reporting, your story sounds believable.

Back in the 80's we had a lunch room routine called "The Stupidest Way to Die Contest." In essence, since we all sat around reading the various NY papers anyway, if we came upon a candidate it would be proposed for a vote to see if it could replace the current champion.

For a long time the leader was a parachute instructor who jumped out of a plane without a parachute. He was finally dethroned by a guy in upstate NY who fell backwards into a garbage can on his screened-in front porch and got stuck. He died of exposure. They interviewed the mailman who said something like: "I saw him waving so I waved back!"
