Do you grasp the concept of a yearly report? Obviously not, since it's obvious there can't be any serious report on 2014 on january 6th of the following year.

I agree they're not persecuted. They're the equivalent of that weedy little twat in the school playground who keeps throwing stones at people and then goes running off to the teacher the moment someone gives them a good slap.

I've seen cases in which kids have gone into class wearing jesus jewellery in defiance of the dress code and then the parents have gone wailing to the press about religious persecution.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

If it were pagan jewelry the press wouldn't even give them the time of day.Thinking

They aren't even really persecuted still and people are saying let prayer back in schools its just a front for let x religion back in school. you can pray in school you just can't lead prayer sessions. and its funny and truly sad with the school shootings saying oh your not letting god in schools this is whats happening when god is not in schools. yet they never question how mentally unstable the killer was and how bad the mental health system in America its truly piss poor. So they saying god let these kids and teachers die because he isn't welcome in school... Facepalm as for the rock throwing i can see how that is and truth is religious people more importantly Christians are hypocritical its the pot calling the kettle black in all cases.

An opinion poll is not a report. It can be done in a few days with no problem.

A report, on the other hand, requires some time to gather and collate the data into a sensible whole, because it is not a simple telephone poll -- which are inherently biased -- but rather, a collection of statistics drawn out to find data.

My bullshit detector is going apeshit right now. Out of a number that large, he winkled out ten extra cases?

Anyway, chalking those deaths up to the cause of atheism is fallacious. Both Stalin and Mao were paranoid and power-mad, and they didn't select victims based on faith, but rather, on perceived threat to power. Anyone with a rudimentary education in history would know that.
Actually that wasn't the point I was making, I see either you or FIDEL edited it out, but no matter. The important thing is you're able to recognize that Stalin and Mao didn't kill people because they were atheist but because they were paranoid and power mad, why can't you draw the same conclusion in regard to religion? The Pope was and probably still is the single most powerful person on the planet. Don't you think he would do anything to keep that power?

As per usual the atheist tries to discredit the information. I find it interesting that we are not even discussing religion, yet you still have to take the opposite side of the argument. I don't even believe you guys are really even against religion, you just have a disagreeable psychology.

Lets recap shall we, as per usual Abris implies that the source of my information (Gallup) is flawed.

If you read HIS Wikipedia link, you would see that the souce for information report is gallup!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Happiness_Report
Quote:On a scale running from 0 to 10, people in over 150 countries, surveyed by Gallup over the period 2010-12, reveal a population-weighted average score of 5.1 (out of 10). Six key variables explain three-quarters of the variation in annual national average scores over time and among countries. These six factors include: real GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, having someone to count on, perceived freedom to make life choices, freedom from corruption, and generosity.
(the part in red is what I stated makes a happy society, as you can see, secularism isn't a criteria)
The report in the Wiki is from 2013, while the link I posted from the ACTUAL WEBSITE is from 2014, yet you try to explain why it's wrong when both reports are done by the same organization! smh

Ok sir, please post a link to the correct "report" if you have one....

Even atheists must agree, that the society as we are now morphing into is due to a lack of instilled morality. I've heard here, that empathy is all that one needs to build a moral bases..... I ask, where do you find that in the general public? Who finds empathy, and where? A video game, or sniper movie? Perhaps an evening of s&m porn will make one empathetic? No, there is no tap for empathy. We hope some parent, somewhere is teaching their child how to empathize.... and not to walk by a bleeding person in the street who may be our child!

Where will ALL the good people come from? Per society (and atheist) wishes, God and His people will diminish. But then, Allah and his cohorts are their replacement! A New World Order needs a new minor annoyance.... Oui? Do you not find it strange that our society is now embracing almost everything that is counter to our sense of natural order? Its actually, mind boggling! And at a pace that is making heads spin! Or roll as Allah and our govt would have it!

And the NWO will of course be how many people you have on your side of the street! And how sharp your sword is. So stock up on vittles and candles. And get ready for a bumpy ride. Its not gonna get better. I'm usually an optimist. Not lately. I'll probably be one of the first to go anyway! I don't take to change very well.Big Grin

No, people have always been deceitful and amoral, it's just harder to hide now with modern media.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

I mean seriously, WTF.

Are you understanding what people are writing, or do you really not get the point people here are trying to make?

Nobody, not a single person, ever, on this thread, has said that secularism is necessary for a state of happy people. Not once. Cite me if you think I've said that, ever.

What I have said, repeatedly, and have repeatedly drawn attention to over these many pages, is that happy, prosperous states tend to be secular (as you yourself evidence in your very own links FFS!). Why? Because they satisfy your very own criteria for what happiness relates to - freedom of choice. That the the poll you've cited doesn't explicitly say " a secular state" is irrelevant. If it did, it would change the results for some and not for others. I mean FUCK man. What is wrong with you?

Secularism, again, as repeatedly posted and repeatedly argued, IS the definition of freedom of choice.

Again, what is it that you're not understanding? If this was real life everyone in the room would be in hysterics as you repeatedly miss the point. Thank god for internets anonymity I guess.

I keep asking and you keep ignoring, but I'll keep asking anyway. What does secularism mean to you? What does it conjure in your mind when someone says 'secularism'? Because I feel the reason you're holding secularism to be the antithesis to religion is because you haven't got the foggiest what on earth secularism is, and have instead conjured it in your mind as an atheist conspiracy, as you yourself admit in a post on this very thread.

Agreed. This is why we as a society eventually outlawed slavery and are beginning to treat gay people as people. That sure didn't come from the steadfast and unchanging morality of the Bible.

To this, I say "yay!".
