Which makes me think that the reason for the continuing attempts at figuring out a date is that the followers have become tired of waiting. It's like people waiting at the bus stop who keep taking a look down the road, as if they can will the bus into appearing. And since the Bible --like a lot of books-- has many numbers scattered throughout, there is no end to the ways you can manipulate those numbers to select a date not far from the present. And if nothing happens on the date in question, you just grab a few more numbers and start the game all over again. So far, the number of predictions that have been correct is zero. And this is in spite of what may be hundreds (if not thousands) of such predictions over the past several hundred years. But if there's anything you learn from religious people, it's that being wrong doesn't even slow them down. "Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
-Stephen Jay Gould
Trouble is, Drich old glove, the last unique moment he 'prof-esied' was about as far from unique you can get while still staying within the English language. Which was, of course, the latest and least in an embarrassingly long line of failures. How many more of these not-at-all-unique moments will it take before one of you armageddon merchants stands up and says "ok, enough is enough"?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Both false. If you wouldn't join in on it if possible, you might want to refrain from saying things like thsi: "It can not happen fast enough for me."
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
OK Mister Agenda, I will refrain from expressing my outlook that way.
To put it in perspective, if someone says: "This day can't be over fast enough"- that is what I mean. I see the present time as the passing of the final moments of a bad very long day. Kind of like a kid who knows a trip to Disneyland is tomorrow and can't wait for it.

If on September 10 2001 (my birthday) I had said "hey, I've heard that nearly three thousand people are going to die horribly tomorrow - I can't wait!", what would that say about me?

Except a trip to Disneyland doesn't usually involve the torment and murder of millions of innocent people whose only apparent crime is not believing exactly as you do. And if you can look forward to being elevated to heaven knowing that the cost will be borne by millions of others in order to satisfy your gods lust for blood and vengeance, then you're a pretty despicable person. If you're not supposed to ride faster than your guardian angel can fly then mine had better get a bloody SR-71.
I can always count on you guys to lay the blame for the gross evil people do on God.
Spiritually blind, disregarders of moral right and wrong Christians (especially Black folk) voted for the False Messiah along with the liberal community. When the crap hits the fan- don't blame God or whackos like myself. You chose the devil and the devil you will get. I would like to see the whole lot of humanity raptured and BHO with his buddy the pope left to blow farts on each other until their trip to the dumpster. But it ain't gonna happen. God did have a hand in the rise of BHO. But He gave the nation the choice and they choose WRONG. Just as Barabbas the criminal was chosen over the Redeemer- the nation chose the criminal and he will finish way worse than he began. |
