I decided to join this board because I got sick of the lame arguments with religious people;
I'm afraid you're in for a bit of disappointment.

Welcome to the forums.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Welcome to the forum, but be weary, this might not be the best place to avoid lame religious arguments.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Welcome Messiah! You have arrived as prophesied lo! these many years! What good tidings do you bring us?

The theist arguments here don't get any better (how could they?), but the entertainment value is sometimes pure comedy gold! Gold Jerry!

and that's enough for Jesus.

Well, the arguments I encountered were truly and wholeheartedly dreadful. Utter nonsense.

How many 'believers' argue on this forum? Either way, I'm here to stay but just curious.

RE: Hello
We have a handful of regulars and a rotating cast of fly-by-nighters. The latter either start a couple of threads and then disappear, or periodically return to post a few useless and/or stupid replies, or waste everyone's time with lengthy topics where they trot out one tired apologetic meme after another and either repeat them after they feel enough time has passed or simply give up and troll us until they finally burn out and leave or are banned.

Not terribly surprising; the material they have to work with isn't very good to begin with, and there are only so many shades of lipstick you can smear on a pig's snout.

RE: Hello
You don't have to talk to the theists though, the vast majority here are atheists or near enough. I have most theists on block as they just endlessly assert things without evidence. I'm here to talk to the atheists mainly Smile

If you are actually looking for meaningful discussion specifically with theists, then I'm afraid you will indeed be disappointed.

The main problem is that they either cannot understand logical fallacies, or they don't care about them.

Welcome Messiah!

Do you always come twice or do you prefer quickies? Tongue
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."
