Hey there and welcome! I'm sure you will fit in here better than I do ha ha.

Lord of the Rings? The interpretation I was left with, from watching the movie:
The RING stood for "Religion," so whoever got it ended up obsessed and high off abusing the power.

Frodo stood for Freedom, where he was not affected or corrupted by the power of the Ring or Religion that corrupted others.
and his buddy Sam stood for Uncle Sam or America that likes to stand for Freedom of Religion.

I never thought of the ring as religion. That's a good call! It burdens you, pollutes your mind and calls you to an evil master. You can "use" it to your advantage, but your very self disappears when you do this due to intellectual dishonesty.

Emily is my dearest friend and the only person that has "matched my crazy" blow for blow for 25 years !! She led me hear, and now its kind of reminding me of the scene in "12 Monkeys" where Brad Pitt is showing a mind melted Bruce Willis around the asylum ! With that said ...

If the ring is religion , Then the ever building homo-erotic tension MUST mean that Frodo is the priest, and Sam is the alter boy ! Smile
