I never use the new posts button, I always use the today's posts. Just curious as to whether I'm in the minority or not, but I never have the problem the OP mentions.
I do the same and also never have the problem the OP has.

Am I the only one who goes into each individual forum section? I guess using the "today's posts" link would be better.

I used to do that Judi, but now I only ever use "today's posts", or "my posts" if I want to go back further in time. I find it's much quicker
Of course, this strategy works best if you're on the forum every day or else you may miss things. In that case "new posts" can help see what you may have missed! Feel free to send me a private message.
