I don't know how to post pictures on here so I won't try...with my luck I would break the internet.
I have a rescue cat...Blue...he looks similar to Grumpy Cat. Had him about a year and a half now. His job is to torment two of my dogs. The other dog doesn't put up with his shenanigans. Also in this zoo are two parrots...Zeus is a Quaker and Chewy is an African Grey...she is a rescue...though not terribly appreciative as she still wants to bite me after all these years. A small mixed breed rescue dog, Lady, the Alpha of this pack. And two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels...one male (Chopper), one female (Karma) though all dogs and the cat are fixed. Petsmart and Foster and Smith love me.
As a foster, it is really necessary for me to hear about these dogs' back story and history. It makes it possible for a whole different level of patience. Keller has some things that we're working on. Without knowing that he never had a name or that he never was taught any commands, I might have thought that he was just willful or dumb. His never having seen another dog allows me to have a lot more patience (and vigilance) when he agitates Tanner and starts tussles.
I'd rather be blissfully ignorant of some of the trauma and abuses these dogs go through. It is nice when we get a dog from a loving home that is moving overseas or has come on hard times and can't care for a dog and surrendered the dog to us. But so often that isn't the case. And unfortunately, I have become the place to put the problem dogs. Tanner is such a good role model and I have experience with training seeing eye dogs and PTSD dogs. Keller is a lover, and so resilient. And handsome, too!
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Pet threads never get to old for resurrection from the dead.
Save a life. Adopt a greyhound.
Love this thread... pets are awesome! I need to put mine in eventually.
Lece' is currently perched on my lap... taking up room but it's okay. I'm typing around her lol.

As seen a few minutes ago... I am limited in my abilities to do anything as my arm is currently being "owned" here by Vader....

It seems incomprehensible that I haven't posted pics of my babiez in this thread but here are a couple of the more recent pics I have of them:
Riley watching a squirrel in a tree as we're out for walkies last summer. Here's Rudy out for walkies. Not the cutest photo of him; he's hugely photogenic and has the most adorable face but he's outside so he's on a mission. :p I've been making cat-themed Christmas memes for my fb page for Christmas the past couple years and here's a couple I did year before last: And here's one of You Be when I was doggy-sitting him at work
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

Speaking of pets - cats in particular... does any cat owners here have a cat that can clear out a room when they use the litter box?
Vader does this. Intentionally and with malice. Our cat boxes are in the mud room, which to get to, they must go through the living room, dining room and kitchen. I'm in the living room and OMG. I'm gonna die! The smell is strong in that one.
