I briefly posted on a one a xtian site but found people enormously defensive and hostile about it.  Not every theist who shows up here gets that treatment.  When they do it is often because they carry that defensiveness and hostility in here with them.

Different sites have different visions and rules. Lots of Christian sites are geared toward sharing and support among Christians, not debate with atheists. They're usually pretty open about that.

But seriously, do you think any xtian website is any where near as open and fair as this one?  And I'm talking about the structure of the rules and their enforcement, not the conduct of the members.

I haven't been there in a few years, but yeah, theologyonline was very good.

There is a sizable number in each camp which will gladly cast a first stone.  But if you know of a xtian site that runs a better ship than this one, why are you here instead of there?  Please tell me so I can try it out.  (Hint: if admitting to being an admitted atheist is grounds for banning, not interested.)

Again, theologyonline. Why am I here? Because there, the theists are in the majority, and an atheist would typically have multiple responders before I even saw the thread. Really wasn't much point of jumping in by then. Same thing happens here but the other way around.

That's impressive. I started on a site called Cygnus' Study, but it's been gone for years now. The site owner, Sam Gibson, was one of the best insulters I've ever come across.

"3. Thou SHALL NOT be intentionally blasphemous or unnecessarily disruptive. Emphasis on "unnecessarily disruptive." We will ban you if you are presenting yourself as an unneeded distraction (yes this is subjective - live with it). Be mindful of the spirit of the discussion."

Why don't we get more moderators and rotate time off for them? I'm frankly amazed more of them don't flame out even without abuse if they never get a break.

Only if your desire is to be intentionally blasphemous or unnecessarily disruptive. If your desire is for serious discussion, you're fine.

You tend to interact less when you're on the staff (at least I do). It's more about scanning the forum for problems and issues.

I used to be involved in almost everything thread, but now not so much.
