Right. Homosexuality is not a disease, an illness or an affliction.
If there was a technique which could change people's sexuality, and it was offered freely and without coercion, then I'd have no problem with that. But if you call it a "cure" or "treatment", then you need to explain what exactly is wrong with homosexuality.

The problem is the terminology used (for there to be a "treatment" or "cure", there must be something to "treat" or "cure"), ...
I've been told many times that morality comes is based on the evolutionary processes, you know..that which helps the species survive is good, that which doesn't is bad. If that is true, which I've been assured many times by secularists that it is, then the condition of not wanting to form sexual unions capable of producing offspring is bad. It's certainly not debilitating, but it would qualify, from an evolutionary perspective, as maladaptive, like color-blindness.
Besides the person quoted in the OP is wrong - a fetish is when a body part or inanimate object is taken to represent the whole of sexual object. Homosexuality would be a perversion, i.e. a misuse of the sexual function, much like masturbation.

Homosexuality does not prevent one from producing offspring, or even from desiring offspring- and enjoyment of that act isn't required (or even generally present) in the pursuit thereof..............................sigh.
Swear to christ...some people talk about teh gays like they're a different fucking species......

By Mezmo's logic then every moment not spent in attempts at reproduction are moments spent immorally.

It's very sad that religion has given you such a warped view of sexuality Chad. "Not constantly reproducing" is not a bad thing. In fact, considering we have a massive overpopulation problem, it's a good thing.
There is nothing perverted about masturbation or homosexuality. Both are natural bodily functions arising from natural urges.
If masturbation is "wrong" because it's not producing children, then so is playing football.
You've gone to a lot of ridiculous lengths to just to say "I hate gays".
With all this blatant homophobia around here, it just leaves me to wonder whether the homophobe gets drawn to religion, or religion creates homophobes.
And as recent studies have shown, 170% of homophobes are secretly super-gay and cry themselves to sleep every night after drawing a face on their nob.

Love the masturbation/football thing.

Because there's nothing to treat in the first place. I'm sure I could find a whole host of detestable traits of yours that we could "treat" if we wanted to, but you don't go fucking with people just because you dislike who or what they are.

Lol thanks I'm getting tired of these absolutely ridiculous arguments and false equivocations being drawn in order to justify bigotry. It's making me despair as to what religion does to people... or stops them changing from.
I wonder how many of our open homophobes would like to see all the gays stoned to death.

I just had a scene flash before my eyes: Chad in a prison shower, blubbering to Bubba about the proper ends of human sexuality and offering as supporting argumentation Anselm's 13 Evidences that Gay Sex is Icky.

So much wrong in one post...
Firstly, morality is a result of evolution, but evoltuion is not a guideline from which our morals are derived. Secondly, you're misusing the term "secularist" as if it means "non-believers" when it actually means someone that wants religion and government separate. Thirdly, masturbation is a perfectly natural biological function, not a perversion, which we know from our understanding of sexual function and how it applies to evolution.
Let's face it, the argument against homosexuality boils down to nothing more than "ew, gross.," and I just wish that, for once, someone would come out and admit that.
