The tutorials are horrible - where they exist.  You'd be hard pressed to make it to the moon and back -on target- if you only went by their tutorials.  The new build does have a MP shell set up (though it's still in dev and non-functional) so if they get that knocked out we can MP NP.  Specifically, they need an advanced nav tutorial or most folks will just build huge, brute force rockets that crash land with some semblance of control near where you want them (relative to the overal volume of space)...most of the time.  The tools are ingame though, you can drop a lander in a 5m square patch on minmus with all burns within an hour of launch.  Just gotta know how to work them patch conics with the navball.

@Dyre, that mod is flat out awesome if only for the plasma engines - I find that the actual endurance is clunky - but..in career mode, you start with most of the ranger (sans vtol - so you have to rig/nav for splashdowns, takes two chutes to keep sci containers from detaching when they hit the water gotta be under 17ms) and so you can complete any mission to the moon and back with no additional rocketry, fuel, or structure research.  I generally dump it all in sci and control (latter because I run mechjeb).  Guess I'll have to see whats broken in the patch, but also whats changed with the research tree.  I'll be pissed if KAS/KIS doesn;t work...my program relies on skycranes /w winches, eva, and remote sci.

I have been finding alternate ways of getting into space without the need of rockets more or less there is sort of game breaking way of doing it but its fun getting my "butterfly" into space relatively quickly.

RE: KSP Anyone?
Kerbal and Sol rise from Mun, in the new release aero model.  I finally got a decent career mode lifer put together to take my trusty pod to orbit.

-notice I forgot the ladder...so Jeb couldn;t get out and plant a flag for fear that he wouldn;t be able to make it back in the pod...lol, oh well...next time-with more kerbals and a rover perhaps?

An easy way to get to mun, for the newbs-
1: You'll need at least 3 stages. The lifter (for getting into low kerbin orbit)-A. A transfer stage to low munar orbit-B. A lander (the lander can double as a return)-C.

The method above does not rely on patched conics from the upgraded tracking center or manouvering nodes from planning...and so is suitable for a newb just starting his career (or a vet starting over /w the new system). It also doesn't rely on complicated math regarding delta-v or navigation (though both can offer you a more elegant design profile for your craft). To begin...when it doubt, give it moar powa! The lander should be the smallest payload possible for the mission..which is simply to get there, land, take a reading, launch into munar orbit..take a reading..and then splashdown back at kerbin (hopefully..it isn't a requirement..Jebediah..you will be missed). If for some reason..say a staging error or random explosion...you don;t make it back into kerbins atmospehere for aerobraking....don't worry, that's just an opportunity for a rescue mission with a purpose built spacecraft! No kerbals left behind yall.

I'd love to get a campaign going with somebody..still want to do "Minmus Direct". Maybe "Duna Direct" as a bonus. Teamspeak and save files for anyone who wants to give it a go. If you don't own kerbal space yet...get off the fence and buy it before they jack the price up after an expansion..lol.

[quick update...Jebediah is dead..lol. Debris from the separation of the command pod with the engine assembly damaged the chute on a sub-orbital tractory and 10 units of monoprop was not enough to re-establish orbit. A second mission to Mun will plant the flag in his honor and will be commanded by Valentina Kerbin..our brand new 1.0 female pilot. Bob and Kermin, Jebs closest friends and our best enigneer and scientist respectivly, will be aboard that vessel - more screenies to come]
