First collisions at the LHC with unprecedented Energy! (Ask a particle physisicist)
RE: First collisions at the LHC with unprecedented Energy! (Ask a particle physisicist)
Close your eyes and use the force Luke. Not that one you fool! I meant gravity! Just open the hatch and let the fucking bomb just fall on the death star! Sheesh! Bloody country farmers don't understand anything!

How I picture the LHC:

I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."

For context, this is the previous verse:

All versions of "nss enterprise", in fact all major starfleet vessels are in dulux "off white semi gloss!".
Most of the large ships from that "other alternate universe" too.
Do we become boring lifeless robots in the future or something?

The "jetsons" is more realistic, me thinks.

Obviously, the LHC should be sold for scrap, and you should use The Force to explain everything.

Yabut. Which one? The strong force or the weak force?

Let's face it, with their action distance, the strong and the weak force won't exactly be flowing through you, would they now.

LHC is a god damned megamachine of a dimension so gargantuan you can not only see it from space, but even from low earth orbit it would look almost as big as your palm held at the end of your extended arm.

...

How can it be seen from space when it is underground?

i am talking about how big a circular object 9 km across would appear from the height of low earth orbit if it weren't mainly subterranean.

Heeeey, I actually got that joke!! Big Grin

What about the color force?

The flavour force is the most dangerous!
Have you heard of the elusive and rare pistachio subatomic particle.

Well look at that, since when do you quantum physics? Smile

There is a bit of a nomenclature problem..  I usually mean the color force when I say strong force, but strong force could also refer to the one mediated by the exchange of pions, i.e. of compositr particles. The former holds the quarks together to form protons neutrons, pions etc, the latter binds the protons and neutrons to atomic nuclei.

My old particle physics teacher actually called the electroweak interactions with quarks leptons and neutrinos "quantum flavour dynamics".

Why do I find that charming in a strange sort of way?
(Hey Bos, it's cool man, I didn't understand a thing he said either)
