New Mass Effect announced!

RE: New Mass Effect announced!
I'm definitely excited for this game, especially to see what can be done on new-gen, but I think as far as E3 is concerned, for me this was actually a little down the list of exciting footage/announcements. But between the footage of Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront, Doom(which looked surprisingly interesting), The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, and others, it is a crowded field.

SW Battlefront, Fallout 4 and a new ME game have been my most anticipated games for ages. E3 has been pretty damn good from what I've seen.

I'm really disappointed with Battlefront though, the maps are already noticeably small, even compared to the old games from 2 generations ago and you can tell just from the damn trailer. No galactic conquest. Fewer maps. Fewer heros. Fewer classes. No space battles. Looks like EA have took that series quite literally backwards instead of forwards.

Somehow the first two Battlefronts slipped by me, so I have no real expectations going into this game. I have to say, though, from my perspective, it looks amazing. It's DICE, so I'm cautiously optimistic. The choice not to have ADS has me a bit concerned, though. I know a lot of FPS's are trying to go back to their roots, but I think that's one innovation that needs to be kept.

I was optimistic too until I realised just how much shit they weren't doing that was included in the games from 2 fucking systems ago.

Like, I know it's probably difficult to get when you have no prior experience, but the offering they are coming out with now is not even a fraction of what was offered in the previous games. There aren't even going to be as many players able to play in-game at the same time as on the games from (I will keep saying it because it's just ridiculous) 2 systems ago. That is a completely fundamental thing, that you would expect to be improved on, not made worse.

Put simply there's nowhere near the content there should be. It's so blatantly set up for DLC. It's really sickening. Games these days should be pushing boundaries, expanding, giving us more. What they've actually announced isn't just less than what they gave us 2 systems ago, it's an insulting paltry offering in comparison.

Even if the gameplay turns out to be the best FPS gameplay ever, it still doesn't cover the fact that content wise, there is just absolutely no excuse for what they're going to be giving us. From what I read they're giving us 4 planets to play on. Fuck me. 4 planets? Careful not to give us too much of a sense like we're fighting a war in an entire galaxy EA. I mean, we wouldn't want to get overwhelmed. A game from 2 systems ago gave us 18 unique worlds/planets to play on. This game will give us 4?

Then there's the simple matter of game modes. BF2 had a campaign mode, completely retelling both the original trilogy and the prequels. The new game doesn't even include the prequels! It's entirely original trilogy, and NO FUCKING CAMPAIGN MODE AT ALL. Then there's the small matter of the galactic conquest mode, which in reality was a fairly simple mode but unanimously praised for its replay value. Do we have that? Nope. Why not? Is it because it would be hard to implement? No, not really. It's because they can't justify giving it to us when they only have 4 FUCKING PLANETS.

Then there's space battles. AGAIN. Everyone loved this shit. It's not even like it would be difficult for them to include.

There's supposed to be fewer weapons to choose from. Fewer vehicles. Apparently we'll be lucky if we even get half the amount of classes that were in BF2. And now you've just said they don't even have ADS?

I mean, what the actual fuck? This is supposed to be a game two systems on, and this extraordinary amount of content is not included?

I could literally rant for days on this one. It's absolutely sickening. Like I said, I was hopeful when I saw it was DICE too, but then I read how stripped back it was going to be. It's an insult to not just everyone who played the original games, but everyone who's expected to fork out top dollar for a game that has a fraction of the content of that which inspired it. It's an insult to the very games it takes its name from.

What is mass effect about, and where does the name come from?

I'm actually a bit excited about this. They pretty much redeemed themselves with DA:Inquisition. For me at least.

I'm more excited about Fallout 4 however.

Inquisition wasn't without its flaws, but EA at least proved to me they are capable of being part of a game that provides an awesome amount of content. Which is a nice departure to what EA are renowned for.

But yeah, Fallout looks fairly awesome. And a November release I believe? Think I'm buying myself a ps4 for xmas and that will be the first disc to enter the tray.

I R Excited by this. Finally new gen consoles are bringing out some big hitters. FFXV, ME 4, Fallout, No man's sky (maybe), Bloodborne (if you haven't played it, do it! Great game). Things are starting to brighten up.

Naturally, PS4 all the way. I used to be on xbox, but the whole debacle over the one's marketing turned me off, and I don't miss Halo one bit.

I agree re: Napos comments on DA:I. I loved that game despite some little flaws, overall it was a great game well worth the price tag. I'm hoping that ME4 will be as expansive as the first one and DA:I has shown me that Bioware are still capable of delivering the goods.

You're crushing my optimism for Battlefront, Napo.

Although, it is EA, so no one is going to be too surprised if it turns out to be a cash grab.
