I don't think this will help. There are some theists (probably a small minority) who's brains are so wired that way, they can't grasp the concept of atheism. They genuinely think we're acting in response to a bad childhood, in denial of judgement or some such thing. Trying to enlighten them is like trying to enlighten a young-Earth creationist - futile and a waste of time.
Any theist worth talking to understands we don't believe in God. They may not grasp our reasoning but they get that we don't believe.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Yeah, it's kind of like when people think I'm an atheist because I'm angry at god because of my disability. It's actually the opposite - I used to buy into the tripe that others told me. That my health issues in this life were preparing me for something greater, and all that jazz. I took comfort in it. It helped me cope. I realized I was an atheist because of a dozen and more things not related to my disability in any way that just never added up.

It's just that Randy is mad at Zeus, and believes everyone else should be too. If only Randy would overcome his anger and properly worship Zeus, all would be good.

You'll see. So, basically, you're better qualified to decide what's in the minds of people you've never met than they are, and if anyone disagrees with you on that entirely ridiculous assertion it's because of bias you also couldn't possibly be able to ascertain?

I quoted you two as representative, but clearly, I've ignited a firestorm. WHOA, PEOPLE. DID I SAY THAT ALL ATHEISTS ARE MAD AT GOD? I didn't even say this of ATHEISTS per se. I wrote (read carefully): Quote:"Not everyone here is mad at God." Some people here do appear to be very angry at God. Perhaps they are not really atheists because after all: "No true atheist would be angry at God, because we don't believe God even exists." (Careful...you don't want to "protest too much". Just kidding.) How would "proving it" by offering posts to evaluate not be the same as "naming names" which I said I would not do? Let me ask this of you instead: In the course of your travels IRL or on the web, have you never met anyone who was angry at God - and made all sorts of atheist arguments against Him? |
