When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Southern does not equal redneck, old chap. Texas alone has at least 5 different and distinct accents depending on the area in Texas.

I have to talk to people from all over the country at work.

The sexiest accent is a Georgian accent. The worst? New Hampshire. It makes me want to shoot myself.

I'd rather have a Southern accent.

I like all accents, even southern ones (speaking as a northerner). I realized from having southern classmates that I do not like slow talkers and it has nothing to do with having an accent (the southern accent, unfortunately, is mainly portrayed through a slow speaker on TV).

That being said, New Hampshire never struck me as a place with a very pronounced accent compared to the rest of new england. I'm amazed it bothers anyone Tongue

1. I'm the furthest from a food snob you can be. I love fine foods, but I also love fast food, hospital food, ramen noodles, catfish fillets, and many foods that others might refer to as 'ghetto'.

2. I get too hot real easily, and keep my apartment below 70° F in order to feel comfortable. If it gets over 80° F, I became sluggish and my thinking slows, and I become miserable.

3. When I was growing up, I lived a few blocks from Lake Superior (which I'm told is 600 feet deep just a mile off from the Duluth harbor). I believed the lake was a spiritual entity when I was younger, still do, to an extent. I would go to the shore late at night to talk to 'her' and swim, just stripping down to my underwear and hopping in (usually in the wee hours of the morning). Afterward I'd build a fire and warm up. I've swam there as late as late November and as early as March. The lake itself maintains a year-round temperature of 40-45° F, so it was the air temperature which was the worry more than the water temperature.

4. I love winter sports. I did a lot of snowmobiling and alpine skiing when I was growing up. Before high school, I was often either tooling around town on a snowmobile during the winter, or off exploring the wilderness with friends on snowmobiles. In high school, they had to drag me away from the slopes, as I basically lived at the ski chalet.

5. I was a competitive diver in high school. Winters training with my coach were something of a hardship, as the pool I trained at was not well heated, and I get foot cramps really easily. Typically, during an hour session, I'd have to stop multiple times to massage the cramps out of my feet.

6. I like tequila. (Okay, maybe you already knew that. It's still worth saying. Smile)

7. I was an audiophile when I was younger. I still care immensely about the sound and the music, but I'm no purist, and I believe I've shed all the typical affectations that afflict the stereotypical audiophile.

8. I love everything Asian. (I have twin sisters, one can take it or leave it, the other tries her best to forget that she's Asian. Me, I revel in all things Asian: Japan, China, Korea, Southeast Asia, India, Tibet, Mongolia - I just love it all.)

9. I love tropical fish. In high school, I had 15 aquariums, including one salt water tank.

10. I'm a dog person. I especially like Borzois, Salukis, and Irish Wolfhounds, but unfortunately, due to an attack by a large dog in my youth, I'm somewhat fearful of getting close to large dogs. I could live with a cat, but it would be an uneasy truce, and one of us just might go missing some lonely night.

When I was in middle school I had my first knowledge-infatuation with animals. Everything about them. That included breeds of dogs although we just had a mutt as a family. Anyhow, the Salukis always appealed to me the most. Their looks, speed and independent nature struck me as romantic I guess.

Now I'm all about herding dogs. They are so smart and interactive. My poor sweet lab/golden cross Sophie I raised from a young puppy to be totally obedient.

She was all that and she imposed 'the law' on every other dog we brought into the house. She was like a daughter that doted on you and did everything you asked but just didn't have her own center. Put another way, her center was wrapped around me. My herding dogs keep their own centers while also being affectionate and very trainable. The thing is they are always training you back with any wiggle room you leave them. They become amused and intrigued by the world around them while still keeping tuned into what's going on with me.

So I won't ever actually live with a Saluki but I enjoy watching them move when I get a chance.

Weird number thing about me...
I am the oldest of three...girl, girl, boy (in that order).
I have three children...girl, girl, boy (in that order).
I have three grandchildren...girl, girl, boy (in that order).

Of all the people noted above only one was born in an even numbered year. Must be why my brother is such an oddball. Tongue

2.) When slightly drunk, I become a very hedonistic existentialist philosopher and smoke cigars for some reason. This annoys everyone but me.

3.) I really, really like Pop-Tarts. I do not know why.

Accent tag. Go!

What Ivy said!! I'm tryna upload some more of my awkward voice right now. Part of a "get to know you" thing that got chopped.

That is pretty darned unusual in lots of ways. My own situation is that of the second boy of seven children. Both my mother and father are also from families of 7 children. I've underlined each of my and my parents place in the litter. My situation is most like my mother's: second in birth order but with inverted b-g sequence.

My parents had: b, b, b, g, b, b, b

My mother's parents had: g, g, g, b, g, g, g

My father's parents had: g, g, b, b, g, g, b

I leave no biological residue of my time on the planet, just a stepson and now going on seven dogs: Bunny, Sandy, Daisy, Sophie, Fletcher, Heidi and now Buddy. Thats: g, g, g, g, b, g, b
