What? No "lucky pick" award for being the only one to pick the Broncos?

The two weeks of media, the analysis, the number of viewers, the idea that he may have just one shot to get a ring, the idea that there have been only ~80 quarterbacks in the history of mankind who have reached that level. The pressure is unreal. True, and I don't deny it's going to be a factor. I still don't see the Panthers losing. Manning had a good performance on Sunday, but it wasn't outstanding, and he was shut down almost entirely in the 2nd half. The Broncos defense is supposed to be the best in the league, and the Patriots still managed to put scores on the board, and came close to tying the game or even winning it outright (they reached field goal range 3 times in the last 7 minutes and only got 6 points). The reason Brady got hit so many times is due more to our dilapidated O-line than the Denver defense IMO. The Panther's O-line is fantastic. I don't think it will be another blowout like the Seattle game, but I don't think the Broncos will stop the Panthers offense either. I reckon it'll be 35 - 24 to the Panthers.
Been looking in my mailbox since I won the 4 week pick part, still don't see my free toaster.
I've got $200 on the Panthers.
So....yeah.

It's strange how much can change in a couple of years. 2 years ago the Broncos were the favorite team by far to win, and they got crushed by Seattle, then lost to the Colts, and now they are the "underdogs".
We were 14-point dogs against the Pack.
That's why they play 'em.

Unless I'm terribly mistaken, they ultimately are derived from how much is bet on one team vs. the other. Given the amount of dead money in sports betting, it really isn't terribly surprising to see "underdogs" beat the "favorites". If only there were an accurate, objective way to predict games. |
