AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
RE: AF Biggest Loser/Fitness Challenge-May 3 to Whenever We're Not Fat Anymore
I decided to stop drinking wine for a few months.  At the two week mark I began to get hungry and worse hungry for sugar.  On Thursday I ate a whole bag chocolate covered malted eggs I bought to mail to the girls.  I gained 3 pounds over night.  It's coming off at about 2 tenths a pound a day.  Some of that 3 had to be water.

I still want chocolate. Rolleyes

Eat dark chocolate every day, but only a bit (not the whole bar). It's healthy and will help you lose weight and live longer and healthier.

You are right about dark chocolate.  Dark chocolate, even 100% chocolate is good.  But it's like eating nuts.  I have both nuts and dark chocolate  regularly on this diet.

But it's sugar I'm craving.  Chocolate just happens to be my sugar of choice (that and really dark chewy licorice.)   I just have to suck it up and not have any.  The craving will go away, I just have to muscle through it.  Mailing off the Easter candy should help.

I use sugar substitutes to help stave that off. It's isn't super effective, but it isn't ineffective, either.

I probably shouldn't, but some days I suck down 2 quarts of Crystal Light.

You have to do what you have to do.

I totally went bad and at some oatmeal cookies my aunt brought to dinner tonight. I have no willpower. I literally can't have the stuff in the house.

Damn you and mentioning chocolate, I ended up not resisting chocolate today! And not dark chocolate, but a sugary o henry (at least it has nuts).

I have a similar goal: I'd like to have a bit more muscle tone and to maintain a lean physique.  Currently, I am using a whey protein shake supplement, which I consume once or twice a day in order to replace those meals where I tend to eat junk.  I also ensure that I have a decent helping of broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans along with an apple: these are my favorite veggies and fruit, which I will often bring with me to work; I will try and consume them before I have any other kind of snack such as chips, cookies, or whatever.  So far, I have noticed that this diet, along with my training routine, has helped me get leaner: I'd actually like to get leaner while putting on a bit more weight (5-10 pounds); I'm about 155 at a height of 5'9.5")

Weighed myself at the store. Down to 146, which I figure would be around 141 without the shoes and clothes.

I can't get away with much of that. Sugar alcohol (nutrasweet) causes the same insulin spike for me as sugar. I have the test strips to prove it (not really, I toss them after use). But the insuline spike is real and does show on the test strips. I can have a diet coke if it's at least two two hours from any snack or meal. But if I have one near a meal, I gain weght. So I save them for mid afternoon treats on hot days.
