So this is the project I've just finished. We replaced the old round hot tub with a larger square model. That necessitated pulling up all the decking and pushing it back further toward the back fence. So I sanded up all the old wood and built a set of stairs and a simple deck on two sides for sitting on, setting the cover on and accessing whatever needs doing when it is closed up. But then I noticed birds were sitting on the trellis that held the old shade cloth and pooping on the cover of the new tub. So I replaced the cloth and made it wider while also extending the trellis all the way to the back fence.

Lia asked for a gate into the area to keep the dogs of the cover and so they don't tear up things we leave out in there. I always wanted a moon gate. So I actually made two gates and made it kind of circular. It isn't as nice as the one I had in my mind's eye but I'm happy enough with it.
