Random Humorous Things - A Light-Hearted Thread

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Someone just advertised on a local FB page that they are selling a front door because they are getting a new one with a built-in scream. I want a front door with a built-in scream since the 'No Soliciting' sign seems to be routinely ignored.

My wife bought a metal placard that says, "No Soliciting", with, "Thank You" below it. It's working pretty well. It is mounted on our front gate.

A couple days ago a girl around the age of 11 knocked on the door.  I expected her to be trying to help with some school fundraiser (though those are usually done online any more.)  She was nicely dressed with an obviously expensive hairdo.  She said she and her friends were hoping to get money for a pizza at 7-11.  I was a little stunned but told her truthfully that I usually don't have cash on me.

The nearest 7-11 is about three miles away...maybe they were able to scrounge up some money between here and there.

Waiting for Polymath to come in and like this, too! Cool math joke!
