Oh, and my money's on Alito being the leak.

Either Alito or someone in Alito's employ.  It's hard to imagine anyone else having access to it.  If that's the case, it would seem to have been leaked in order to support overturning Roe v. Wade.  What other motive would there be for one of Alito's people to do this?

Float the idea to see how likely the six Roland Freislers would get lynched if they promulgated this nazi decree.

I'm trying to remember what the rules are for abortion in Ireland.

Elective during the first 12 weeks, later if the mum’s life is at risk or there’s a fatal foetal abnormality.

It's kind of hilarious that Conservatives consider this a victory for them and a humiliation for progressives. When it's in fact it's a humiliation for Conservatives. As even if every Red State bans abortion it's never going to be enforceable and it's going to be a legal headache to try and enforce. All for something that didn't impact their lives in any meaningful way.

The same goes if they manage to overrule gay marriage as the majority of gay couples already live in the secure Blue States and more and more countries are legalizing Gay marriage making Red States look regressive and backwater. How is this not humiliation for Conservatives?

Also, how is it not a total humiliation of Conservatives that the only Argument they can make in objection to Roe Vs Wade is a giant argument from Antiquity? When your whole case is built on a logical fallacy it should make you think a little.

The draft majority opinion overturning Roe v. Wade that just leaked also explicitly criticizes Lawrence v. Texas (which ended laws that banned gay sex) and Obergefell v. Hodges (which legalized same-sex marriage). Alito claims they are not “deeply rooted in history.”

Throughout most of the developed world, it is illegal to harvest someone's organs without their explicit, written, pre-mortem consent. This means that in places where abortion is outlawed, a pregnant woman has less bodily autonomy than a corpse.

After twelve weeks under the law a serious health risk tothe mother is also allowable grounds for an abortion.

The problem is that the government isn't willing to enforce provision. Every GP with sufficient facilities and every doctor in a maternity ward should be told to provide the service or resign with automatic delisting from the medical register. The only grounds for refusal should be a temporary one for lack of training.

PS Alito's decision if adopted would return the civil and personal rights landscape in the US all the way back to Plessy v Ferguson, where the supreme court said it was not just legal but right to racially discriminate against certain casses of US citizen.

Since they're no longer a borderline catholic theocracy. They left a lot of young victims in the grounds in their orphanage homes. In principle it's the same approach the religious right is taking in American. Until it's born, it's holy. Once it's born, it can bloody well rot in the streets.
