Well I think there would be 2 main things to consider.
#1. Who is more technologically? Us or the aliens
#2. How much like us are they? Do they generally have the same moral code as humanity? And do they want the same things as us (power, land, shiny metals etc...)
If the answer is that they are more advance then us, and they want what we have then we can consider ourselves %100 fucked! Those aliens would do to us what the Europeans did to the Native Americans.
