I felt the same thing when I finally admitted to myself that religion was hogwash. I felt this incredible feeling of it being right, and almost like a feeling of acceptance within myself. A feeling of everything being right with the world.
A religious person would assume that was god talking to them. I think it's really just your inner psyche coming into harmony with your conscious beliefs.
My experience exactly, Rahul. And it isn't only that Xtians feel "right" . . . they feel superior. They're on the winning side. The big guy that created the galaxies loves them individually, and is going to make everyone who disagrees with them fry forever. There is a line in a popular hymn "I, who made the Moon and Stars, now kneel to wash your feet": I think that's Xtianity in a nutshell. That feeling of "I'M IMPORTANT, I'M RIGHT, EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME JUST GO TO HELL. I'LL GET TO WATCH."
Many Xtians can not let go of that - their entire psyche and worldview is built upon it.
