In any intellectual discussion, if you present "I believe X because Y", you are expected to defend Y. How else is anyone supposed to know if Y is a credible reason for your position on X? You might as well be saying "I believe in astral projection because of unicorns". It's why the religious have absolutely no credibility in these discussions because you slam straight into an immovable wall of blind faith that you have no explanation for, other than wishful thinking. Oh sure, you'll just say you don't care and I'm sure you don't because it's much easier than actually having an intellectual discussion about what is inherently an ignorant belief system, but that does put you into the exact same category as people who believe in unicorns and leprechauns and magical fairies. I'm sure that offends you, but you did it to yourself.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide mankind that cannot be achieved as well or better through secular means.
