Continuing the China angle, here is their suspicious behaviour in allegedly hearing the black box pings:

Its quite laughable really. In the media yesterday they had photographs and video of a couple of chinese guys on a rubber inflatable boat, with a hand held hydrophone dipped in the water, as evidence of the black box ping.
In reality, to pick up a signal from that depth, they'd need a multi array sonar detector, dragged throgh the water on the end of a 6 mile long steel rope weighing about 8 tonnes, towed behind a ship at a speed of 4 knots.
Even then, the signal would be so weak as to be undetectable, so they'd have to constantly integrate the signal from the detectors to differentiate it from background noise.
However, the Chinese, who amazingly just happened to be sailing along, miles from the authorised and agreed search zone, decide to go for a ride in a RIB at 40 knots, dangling a fish finder in the sea, the sort of kit that typically would be used to find fish 30 foot under your boat, and which you could probably buy for 200 bucks someplace.
A british nuclear submarine, packed to the gills with the most sophisticated detection equipment, designed, built and operated by some of the brightest guys on the planet, in conjunction with a massive array of military underwater hydrophones, and sophisticated analysis software cant find the black box.
A chinese guy in a tiny boat, with a fish finder tied to the end of a broom stick, 20,000 feet above them detected a signal.
The basic laws of physics are obviously not operating as we'd expect in that part of the world. They are looking more and more ridiculous with every passing day.
