You do realize that article is from 1998? Or did you hope, we wouldn't realize?
I can't be arsed to look all the recent evidence to the contrary. But a lot of jewish archeologists hold the opinion of the exodus never having happened.
As for the story itself - notice that pharao never has a name. And as has been said, a real pharao and his army would have been missed. Enough so to make it into writing.
