They absolutely recognise them when they see them, they just make a conscious/unconscious decision to forget about them and pretend like they don't exist. That's the essence of cherry picking, I believe.
But some of the theists on this board don't even gloss over them, they just assume it can't be *that* bad because why would it be in the bible (or whatever) if it was? It's all part of the greater good, so even the bad bits are good.
