It's a good point. The theists we get on this forum have wildly different beliefs, yet they (on the whole) keep on at us atheists rather than with each other. Is this an admission that they have no grounds to criticize anyone else's religious beliefs? That idea that as long as you "believe in something" you're OK is baffling.
Well, the something still has to be a popular religion of course. It has to be a "real" one.
You're totally right. It's glass houses. How can you respect someone whose religious beliefs are totally contrary to yours, and instead pick fights with atheists who simply say they are unconvinced? Insecurity, of course.
Some people don't get how I can watch a sport without supporting a particular team or player. "You have to pick one!" they say.
