RJD was a great singer, but the songs just weren't the same, to my ears.
For the Sabs, I've always preferred Paranoid -- perhaps the best metal album ever, there -- or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Just like early Deep Purple had the cutting edge sound, the later albums were still great but for different reasons. Same for Sabbath.
PS, how can anything from Blackmore, Page and Iommi possibly be "average"? hehe
