Currently I have on fucking stubborn smoke detector in my house, that beeps even after I properly replace the battery. I will say however, it is also wired to the house too. The battery is a backup. I don't know what to do. I keep replacing the battery, it remains quite for a while, then starts beeping again.

Throw the breaker switch.

Don't ask the internet for advice on your fire alarm. If it's not a battery issue, it's a failure indicator. The tone should be lower and it won't have the same pattern as it does when it detects smoke. There's a super annoying way to test this which involves setting off your detector, resetting your detector with brand new high quality backup batteries...then testing the batteries charge when it goes off - as well as the tone.
But....... you shouldn't be asking the internet for advice about your malfunctioning fire alarm. You should have it professionally serviced by factory trained technicians...or replace it.

Maybe you have smoke in your house or a gas leaking.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
Common house dust can sometimes cause the beeping. Vacuum the detector thoroughly. If that doesn’t stop the noise, replace the unit.

In answer to your question in the title of the thread - smoke detectors detect smoke...
...when they are working properly. Are you sure it isn't an empty beer bottle laying around somewhere? (November 3, 2021 at 11:16 am)Brian37 Wrote:(November 3, 2021 at 10:53 am)brewer Wrote: Throw the breaker switch. It will if you leave it off.

Is this a single-family home or an apartment? I ask because a hard-wired detector is rather unusual in older single family homes.
