Probably. It also depends on the definition of intelligent.

It completely depends on the environment the aliens would live normally. Different shapes for different environments. Legs on a gas-planet would be pretty useless.

I don't know, I can't see a practical application to it immediately if that is what you mean, but then not every scientific inquiry needs to be justified with a return of investment.

Just like life on this planet, some probably do, most probably don't.

I don't see why not.
