A "claim" is a pretty big pill to swallow. As it stands, we can only see stars or EM that has reached us. If there is a star 20 billion light years away, we will not see it for another 5 billion some years. Because of this possibility, it is impossible to prove the extent of the universe. It may very well be infinite in size with infinite matter. The universe arising from a singularity has pretty much gone the way of the gods.
