So do you mean, instead of this get-together or as well or what? Somehow I don't think everyone's going to be up for it, but could be wrong.
Well, I was just saying that I was going anyway. And it would be a pretty cool place to meet up, but yes, not everyone is quite nerdy enough to appreciate that kind of event.
And yay for Odo
Truth be told I'm not either
My friend is part of this group that does charity stalls at these events, for Macmillan Cancer Support, and I just go along to help out so I don't get to mingle that often. I'm not that much of a Trekkie really. They know every line of every episode but to me it's just a pretty good programme but that's all (sorry if that's sacrilegious
. Same with Dr Who. They won't miss a single episode but personally I don't like these new ones at all but I do like the old. Jon Pertwee is my favourite doctor. I find it quite embarrassing to be honest to be dressed up. When I was a Trekette - which involved dancing in Star Trek themed drag to a room full of people - I had to keep nipping up to my hotel room to top up my coke with vodka to sum up the nerve
And at the particular event in my avatar, I had changed out of my friend's Odo costume through embarrassment and then had a bit of a break and went to mingle in the crowd and see Rene - who is my favourite character from my favourite series of star Trek, DS9 - and it was actually him that convinced me to put it back on so he could give me that free pic (they weren't supposed to allow photography). He was a lovely guy, very down to earth.
