Yes, but it is so shockingly easy and tempting to dehumanize other groups completely. The phenomenon on display here is exactly what was going on in our backyard 80 years ago, isn't it. Man can bring themselves to a point with little effort where we look at grieving families heartbroken at the loss of their loved ones, and mock them for it.
Exactly. That's why I get that passionate when blanket statements are made or supported. My family went through that some 70 years ago and it's the reason why I don't have any extended family. And they fought it. My granduncle in the Austrian civil war of 1934 at the side of Otto Bauer and later on as a republican general in the Spanish Civil War. My grandfather by providing false documents for fellow jews. The least I can do is speak up whenever sommething disgusting is said.
And I don't know what disgusts me more. Joking over people getting killed or outright applauding the fact.
