What matters most is one's politics, not the color of one's skin or one's genitalia.
That said, many of us wanted Elizabeth Warren to run, but she evidently did not think now was the right time.
Oh, man. If they could get a Sanders/Warren ticket, convince her to at least run for VP, I'd cream my freakin' jeans. Those are the only two people talking about the reality of the United States right now. All the rest of the candidates (even Hillary, whom I consider part of the Establishment just as much as any GOP candidate) just talk about how "great" America is, like we can't read international comparison statistics... or, well, a newspaper.
I'm with you on that. A Sanders/Warren ticket would be something to reckon with -- at least to the extent that people are ready to talk about the reality of contemporary America and to hear some uncomfortable truths. I'm just skeptical that a sufficient number of people are ready for that. We've had one election cycle after another in which candidates feed the electorate with pap and nice sounding clichés that stroke our national narcissism. Aspirational rhetoric seems to be the only thing many people really want to hear. Discussions on the need to reform the financial system, to address the ever-increasing income gap, or to seriously address our contribution to climate change won't go over well with the crowd that just wants to chant USA, USA!
Besides, I'm not sure VP would be a palatable position for Warren. As it is, she is an increasingly powerful person in Congress and is in a position to really drive the debate on a number of issues in ways she could never do if she is stuck attending state funerals and whatever other menial executive tasks she might be given by the President. VP could be a step down for her.
