I once parked in a disabled spot at his church so that I could get him into his wheelchair and into the building. When I came out, two church ladies started yelling at me that I shouldn't be parked there. It was really embarrassing, but it was wrong of them to jump to conclusions. Yes, I walk just fine, but my dad didn't.
All I'm saying is there might sometimes be extenuating circumstances you don't know about.
No, I'm well aware that's a possibility. And that sort of thing is fine (although the better move would be to drive up to the front of the building's entrance to drop them off if you're not going to stay... no use taking a spot if you're not going to stay more than the time it takes to drop them off ) since a wheelchair is involved. You're using the space as intended - helping someone in a wheelchair enter/exit the vehicle.
But, I've been out several times this month, and every time the spots are taken up by small vehicles. And watching the majority of people both in the parking lot and inside my destination (usually a store, like Wal-Mart, yay), no one has anything close to a legit mobility issue. No one using the store-supplied electric carts. No one with oxygen. No one with a walker. Maybe one or two canes. No one obviously struggling, or morbidly obese (someone like my aunt, who while not 'disabled' has knee and hip issues due to her weight, so I'm used to those signs as well).
Just a bunch of lazy fuckers.
