The kind of Islam they had in spain in the middle ages seemed cool for a bit compared to the rest of christian europe.

But I think that is where my admiration for Islam ends, it was a worthy religion in the 1400s, but has failed to evolve significantly since then and is mired in the medeival mentatlity that it blights the world with now.
