Well, according to that link, he's a Muslim because one of his two "connections" on his MySpace page is a Muslim. That's what makes the internet great. Anybody can make the littlest conjecture based on minimal evidence and report it as news. It can spread like wildfire from there.
This is one of those things where it's best to wait until the dust settles before we start trying to figure out what this guy's motivations were.
